Music video art – SOUR
You got to admit this is one of the more beautiful videos you’ve ever seen, how much thought got into this one… amazing.
No commentsA brief history of time – part 2
Last summer, just after me and my beloved and beautiful wife decided to merry, another idea struck me. Tons of unused stuff was lying in boxes and moving with us from one apartment to another without seeing daylight… why don’t I just sell these things online and make a buck or two…?
That is how pishpesh.net was born. In Hebrew, the word pishpesh is used in the term shuk pishpeshim which stands for flee market. pishpesh is also a little bug. Like everything I do I started by letting everybody know the market is open (not the wisest thing to do) and then began to upload images, edit descriptions etc. oh…. I also wrote that money will be collected to help funding the upcoming wedding.
Since the publishing date was Jewish Valentines, everybody really loved the idea and people started buying everything, from magazines and books to tea cups. One of the most popular sites in Israel also published a story about the site and for couple of months we received an average of about 400 visitors per day.
As the time passed, the peoples interest decreased and I eventually I shut it down about three months after we opened it.
Total revenue:Â about 500$.
Secret of success: Great timing and a good cause.
A brief history of time – part 1
In the beginning there was dr-scanner.com, a first try out in the Internet-making-money-of-what-people-don’t-really-need business. The main idea was to offer a scanning service in which I was going to scan people’s old photographs and by that way help preserve history and protect peoples memories from getting ruined, flooded or eaten by their dog. AÂ truly novel intention. Well… nobody really called or e-mailed me for that service… actually, some people did contact me about the offered service but didn’t hear from them again after the first email.
One would say: “the requested prices were high” or “you didn’t answer their emails on time”… well, the pricing was totally reasonable and I was super polite and quick on the emails! What was the problem then?
I can’t really tell what was the problem because I moved on so fast…. until today I sometimes get emails concerning my scanning service (although the site is down for at least one and a half year! God knows how they keep finding me!) and still, after the first email, they are gone. I can only guess people cant really see the need of the service…
The funniest part (or saddest, depends how you look at it) was that most of my old pictures were flooded, just after I closed the site…. (most of them saved) and no, I didn’t scan it….. :)
No commentsHello, first of all
My name is Dror, I’m an 26 (going 27) yo Israeli who had it with the usual rat race everybody is participating here and trying to find new, interesting ways to make a living. I’ll be writing this blog in English for two main reasons: First, to improve my English… Second, it’s part of the big master-plan I’ll be telling you all about in my future posts.
That’s it for now, just a brief post to test the system and see how this WP works (great sys BTW). I’ll be going to my conventional work now. :)
